Luis Campos
An awarded filmmaker. He has a doctorate in Media Artes and is an alumni of EAVE Producers Workshop, Berlinale Talents, Rotterdam Lab, Locarno Match Me and ACE Producers Mentoring Programme. He is the creator of the GUIÕES – Festival do Roteiro de Língua Portuguesa festival. He first had experience in cinema in international production companies like RT Features (Brazil) and Savage Film (Belgium). He was a jury at ICA – Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual de Portugal, and a jury in many international film festivals. He worked on projects on BRO Cinema between 2018 and 2022 and worked on SPI as well, before dedicating his time entirely in his production company Matiné, starting in 2023.
Cátia Biscaia
Cátia has a post-graduate degree in Audiovisual and Multimedia from the Lisbon School of Media. Professional photographer – awarded nationally and internationally – and university lecturer in the field of Image, she also works in the area of Cinema, as Director of Leiria Film Fest (International Short Film Festival), producer, scriptwriter and image assistant for award-winning films such as: «Hushed. Left. Jumped», «Fled. Lay. Fell», «Manuel», «The Flight of the Mantarays», «Memories of an Empty House» (directed by Bruno Carnide), among others. «Her name is Carla» is her first work as a director.
Miguel Faustino
Miguel is a young cinematographer. He studied cinema at the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias in Lisbon. He was awarded 3 different times, one of them with the ‘Best Cinematography on a Student Project’ on AIP 2023, with the film “Vanette”, which was also awarded with other prizes at Sophia 2023. He was an intern at Krypton Films and later at Rental House PLANAR. In 2023 he officially started his path as a DP, having already worked on different projects, such as webseries, documentary, advertising, music videos and short films.
Manuel Pureza
He studied photography and directing at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. At 25 years old he became one of the youngest directors working in television. His directing work have been awarded twice at the International Emmy Awards. He directed some short films: “A Bruxa de Arroios”, with which he won the 2012 Méliès d’Argent; “Kieza”, produced in Angola, that was in Cannes, in 2016, and won the Best Actor prize at the Best Actors Film Festival in San Francisco, as well as the Gold Remi Award in the World Fest Houston International Film & Video Festival; “Fiel” and “Um Último Dia de Primavera”, that were shown in many festivals in 2020. In 2021 he released two tv-shows on RTP: “Até que a Vida nso Separe” – that debuted in 198 different countries through Netflix in January 2022. Then he released “Pôr do Sol”, a nonsense soap opera that had two seasons and even a film that had a big success in Portugal.
Paolo Marinou-Blanco
A screenwriter, director and producer graduated in Philosophy and History in the London School of Economics, and with a masters degree in French Literature in the University College London. As a grantee from Fundação Gulbenkian, he also has a masters degree on Cinema and TV from the Tisch School of the Arts – New York University. After an internship with Spike Lee, Paolo wrote and directed his first full-length feature “Goodnight Irene”, with Robert Pugh, Nuno Lopes and Rita Loureiro. It was selected to be shown at the Tallinn Black Nights IFF, Edinburgh IFF, and more than 30 other international festivals. He has also been a screenwriter in the USA, Portugal and Brazil. Some of his projects are: “Brass Monkey”, “Vila Olímpica”, “City of Mist” and “Last Harem”. His short-film “Nada nas Mãos” premiered in 2021 in the Curtas de Vila do Conde, as well as in other international film festivals from San Francisco to Badajoz, arriving at the HaHaArt Film Festival where it won the best national film and best national director awards. “Sonhar com Leões”, his second full-length feature, is planned to premiere in 2024.
